How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?

There's no submit button. ChatGPT and other AI assistants recommend businesses they can confirm, so the work is on five inputs: one consistent name, address, phone and description everywhere you appear; reviews, citations and directories that agree with your site; structured data machines can read; your current site in both Google's and Bing's indexes, since ChatGPT's live search runs on Bing; and pages that answer questions directly enough to be quoted.

Nobody can guarantee that ChatGPT names your business, and we won’t. AI assistants recommend a business the way a careful referral works. They check what the open web says about you, whether independent sources back it up, and whether your information is structured enough to trust.

So we work on the inputs:

  1. Entity authority. One consistent name, address, phone and description on your site, Google, LinkedIn and the directories that matter. Contradictions read as risk.
  2. Third-party corroboration. Reviews, local press, professional listings and real citations.
  3. Structured data. Schema markup that tells machines what you do, where, and for whom.
  4. Both indexes, current. Bing’s index feeds ChatGPT and Copilot. Google’s feeds Gemini and AI Overviews.
  5. Content worth quoting. Pages that answer real questions directly.

Then we measure whether the assistants cite you, and we record ChatGPT’s answers with the date. For one Spokane bookkeeping client, we recorded the answer on September 12, 2026 and re-tested it on September 21, 2026.
